Rapids Week 2 News and Notes + Time Trial Details
June 2nd
Hello Rapids!
We had a great first week of Practice, and the second week is looking good! A few things to note:
- Reminder: download the Swimtopia App and enable notifications so we can send you urgent alerts. Mostly about weather, but some other odds and ends. You do NOT need to pay for the "pro" version of the app.
- Practice Schedules are the same as last week, and we are practicing every evening this week.
- PLEASE continue to have patience as the coaches move kids around lanes. We only have 4 lanes and lots of swimmers at very different levels.
- Time Trials is this Saturday! What is Time Trials, you ask? Check out the Swim Meet 101 page for detailed information on all of the different meet types. All swimmers on the main team are encouraged to sign up for time trials and swim all strokes they are comfortable swimming. This meet is a ton of fun, the first meet of the season, it's a dry-run for future meets, and it's just us!
- Don't know how to sign up for a meet? Click on the Schedule and Signup page. If you need information on how to sign up, check out the Schedule and Signup Help Page.
- Parents! We need you to volunteer for Time Trials! Click on the "Job Sign Up" to pick a job and sign-up!
- Looking forward, the first "B" meet is Monday June 10th. Swimmer registration and volunteer signup are both open.
- Looking forward to the week of June 10th, there will be the following schedule changes:
- Monday June 10th: No Practice due to the B-Meet
- Tuesday June 11th: Afternoon practice as normal
- Wednesday June 12th: No Practice due to "School's Out Club Party!"
- Thursday June 13th: MORNING PRACTICE!
- Friday June 13th: Normal Morning Practice. Fun Fridays will begin June 20th.
- Reminder, if you don't have a team suit and want one, the deadline is Tuesday June 4th, and they will be delivered June 6th. Click HERE to order your suit. After this, if you want a suit, you will have to go to SportsFair in Falls Church to buy them.
- A note about the weather related cancellations: The team reps and coaches will make the call to cancel practices based on the weather reporting and the actions of the other neighboring clubs. We're going to do the best we can based on the information we have. Our primary goal is always going to be safety of the swimmers and coaches.
- If you go to the "Schedule and Signup" page, you can "subscribe" to the calendar, and it will allow you to get the calendar to your personal calendar. (This is Shaq: I haven't done it. I believe it works. I don't know how. If you want to sync the Rapids calendar with your personal calendar, give it a shot. Let me know how it works.)
Looking forward to another great week!
-Your Team Rep
Mandy, Noelle and Shaq
