Team Representative Overview
The Rapids swim team is managed by volunteers known as Team Representatives or Team Reps. While it takes an army of volunteers to run The Rapids, the Team Representatives divide up the duties of running and coordinating the team.
All of the team reps do their specific duties for their specific job and also serve as part of the leadership team which works during the off-season to plan the season, and help manage the Meet Days.
Meet Reps
The A-Meet Reps are responsible for managing the relationship between The Rapids and the Northern VA Swim League (NVSL), as well as for acting as a liaison between the team and the pool. The A-Meet reps are also responsible for hiring the Head and Assistant coach.

Paige Ohlhorst -
Paige and her crew (John, Henry (9) and Will (7)) have enjoyed the club since 2022; she grew up swimming year round and was a summer swim team coach for four years during college. More recently Paige has had the prestigious volunteer role of Stroke and Turn Judge (she does accept bribes to look the other way for a 6 year old’s butterfly) and as a rep is in charge of Operations which includes the coaching / programming, budget, purchasing, and lots of other stuff that happens outside of the Summer Swim Season.
Jenny Peoples -
Jenny and her family joined GFST in the summer of 2020 as soon as they heard the pool was going to open. Maggie (15), Alli (13) and Reid (10) joined Rapids (Reid as a Mini) in 2021 and it quickly became their favorite part of the year. Jenny has done a little bit of everything that doesn't require official training for the team over the years. You'll find her sitting in the Pavilion during almost every practice, frequently with a ribbon box nearby.
When she's not at the pool she can frequently be found at a ball field watching softball or baseball. Or she might just be doing something for one of her various other volunteer positions.
Jenny will be our lead contact with NVSL. She will also coordinate B meets, oversee officials, and work with Brent on all things Data related. And don't worry, she'll still take care of the ribbons!
Helen Folk -
Helen is in charge of Communications and Merchandise. So make sure you pay attention and respond when you get an email so she doesn't have to track you down. Helen and Brent will also be coordinating all our Rapids merchandise. So if you just NEED a pair of Rapids PJ pants, they are the Team Reps you want to find.
Brent Bradley -
Brent is in charge of the Website, Data, and Merchandise. If you have pictures of the meets you'd like to share, he's your guy. He's already got some great new logo designs for the merchandise that he and Helen are working on. So look forward to some fun new Rapids swag this summer.
