Volunteers - Social & Event Jobs

Team Social Events

We are hoping to have at least two team social events this summer, outside of our Fun Friday. These are currently on the calendar for Wednesday, June 21st and Thursday, July 13th. Times and details are TBD based on what the Event Lead decides to plan. If you choose to support this event, please block off the day and coordinate with the lead for details. Feel free to connect with friends and plan something together!

  • Team Social Event Lead - Determine a fun, safe, and age appropriate (entertaining for ages 6 - 17) team social event. Potential event ideas include a ropes course, movie day, laser tag, paint ball, etc. Please coordinate the communication, logistics and budget management with Social Volunteer Lead Pam Trimble.
  • Team Social Event Support - Sign up to support the team social event lead in the planning of and execution of a successful team social event. Plan to aid in any necessary planning prior to the event, and plan to attend the event in a support capacity.

Fun Fridays

Our Rapids look forward to their Fun Friday practices! Each Friday, practice times are a little different, and the coaches plan some fun games for the kids. When swimmers are done in the pool, breakfast is served. Normally we serve pancakes, but occasionally we do muffins or bagels/donuts. Menus and shopping lists will be pre-determined and given to the shoppers by the Tuesday prior to that week's Fun Friday.
  • Fun Friday Breakfast Shoppers - Purchase the necessary supplies for the Fun Friday breakfast during the week for which you have signed up. Have the supplies to the pool by 8 AM on the corresponding Friday morning. A supply list will be given to you by the Tuesday before Fun Friday. Please keep all receipts.
  • Fun Friday Food Prep - Hang out in the snack bar during practice and help prepare the team breakfast. Normally this includes making pancake batter and frying up pancakes on the griddle. This job may also entail cutting up fruit or putting together a breakfast spread of donuts and bagels, depending on the menu for the week.
  • Fun Friday Breakfast Servers - Serve some yummy breakfast to our well-deserving Rapids and coaches once practice is finished. This shift also includes clean-up.
  • Potluck Event Planner - Plan a fun, engaging and age appropriate craft or activity for the kids to participate in during the Fun Friday Potluck Dinner. Coordinate budget and details with Social Volunteer Lead Pam Trimble.

July 4th Float

One of our most anticipated events of the summer, each year the Rapids participate in the Celebrate Great Falls July 4th Parade. Swimmers wear their team t-shirts, sit on or walk alongside the float, and throw candy to spectators while yelling our Rapids cheers. Each year we have received an aware for our float, and we want to keep the streak going! It takes a lot of thought, effort and coordination to put together the float. Please consider being a part of this fun tradition!

  • July 4th Float Lead (Construction) - Lead the planning of this year's float construction. Work with Design lead on details.
  • July 4th Float Lead (Design) - Lead the design and planning of this year's float decoration and theme.
  • July 4th Design Support - Assist the July 4th Float Leads in any planning, purchasing, and brainstorming.
  • July 4th Float Host - Host the float-building and decorating in the driveway of your home. Normally these events occur on July 3rd and early in the morning of July 4th, before the parade start.
  • July 4th Truck - Volunteer to drive your truck and pull the July 4th Float along the parade route.
  • July 4th Float Volunteer - Assist the leads in decorating and constructing the July 4th float.

End of Season Banquet

Every year we have the pool to ourselves from 6 - 10 PM on the evening of Divisionals to celebrate the swim season. The coaches put on a program with awards, a slideshow and more. Please volunteer to help make this event a success!

  • Banquet Lead - Volunteer to plan the Banquet. This job includes planning a theme if desired, and planning all aspects of the event including event set up, decorations, drinks, dinner, and dessert. Work with Social Volunteer Lead Pam Trimble on budget and logistics as needed.
  • Banquet Planning - Assist the lead in any planning or shopping prior to the event.
  • Banquet Set Up - Assist the lead in setting up on the evening of the event.
  • Banquet Clean Up - Assist the lead in cleaning up after the event.
